      AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, a disease that makes it difficult for the body to fight off infectious diseases. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus known as HIV causes AIDS by infecting and damaging part of the body's defenses against infection.

        HIV (human inmmunodeficiency virus) CAUSES AIDS (acquired immonodeficiency syndrome), so essentially, your statement is correct. However, people may be HIV-infected without showing symptoms yet.

            It's nothing nice about HIV/AIDS...the sound of the name and the name by itself.

            that's why they tried to make it sound better, by changing the name to something people could understand. And nowdays, people are living with aids, not dying.
