Dont shop ADOPT... There are many pure bread animals at the 'pound'. Unless you are planning to breed your furbaby does not need papers. Good luck in your search.

I would suggest calling a larger vet's office they usually have a list of breeders in your area. Also on the internet you can find sites for rescue groups that are for all kinds of breeds and you would probably find a maltese rescue group and could perhpaps obtain one there? Most of those groups are very careful and well orgranized and will help you if they can.

Try going to Chgo. Ridge Animal Welfare and ask them to let you know when a dog you prefer comes in for adoption..you can usually fill out a form and they then call you. Thats how I got my best friend!
