If auto fuel id spilled down a man's leg, can that lead to a form of blood poisoning?
Several years ago, a friend, who is now 93, was carying gasoline in a watering can which was open at the top. At times the gas slopped out of the can and down his leg. He ended up in the hospital with something very wrong with that leg.
Recently, contractors cleaned the hall and loby carpets using some type of chemical cleaner that caused a flare up of his old problem. He is sitting in his condo unit and must keep that leg elevated. Is there medical term for this type of condition?

He would probably get blood poisoning only if there was an open wound on his leg. He probably had a chemical allergic reaction to it.

I agree that this is probably an allergic reaction to a petroleum product. It sounds like he has swelling, so that's why he needs to keep his leg elevated.
