When all else fails it is always best to think of the dogs best interest and put it somewhere were it will be fed and cared for. Hopefully they will find it another good home. The only thing I always remind people to do is to look for a shelter that will hold the animal until a new home is found, not the kind that will euthenize them after a certain amount of time. You are not a bad person, you did the best you could.
