    Public education was never meant to be a social contract paid for by the taxpayer - federal or state. History suggests that government created the Department of Education and the many K12 bureaucracies to achieve control of the species, including supporting equity between the races. In case you haven't noticed, government has little to do with true 'eduaction.'

    STATES SHOULD FUND IT.THE FEDS ARE CONTROLED BY THE NUTS OLONG THE EAST AND WEST COAST THAT DONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT A CHILDIN KANSAS MISS. OR ILL. NEEDS TO BE COMPETIVE IN THE JOB MARKET IN THEIR STATE.

    Agreed. If the federal government can't even handle taking care of 50 states plus all foreign matters then how are they going to worry about something like education?

    I think that State Government should take care of education because if the Federal Government does than that's an extra job for Julia Gillard, she has so many other jobs to take care of in Australia, she shouldn't deserve it. So I agree with the other 2!
