      There are a lot of products on the market for cleaning your grill, but really any good stiff wire brush will do.

            wire brush a good one like a mechanic would use and plenty of elbo grease. take em right off and scrub ,scrub,scrub...reinsert put on burgers and open a beverage of your choice,,,happy 4th of july..

              Turn your barbecue on high heat and let it burn off than use your stiff brush to clean any left over.after that done take a cool beer,than start cooking.

                      We have this stuff here in London - called "oven pride" equipped with glove and plastic bag. Place liquid in the bag with grill or the racks from the oven seal bag - just lay it in the bath and comes out sparkling (no elbow grease) and of course all the other answers and can be used in between.
