    Why are so few toll free numbers available in the UK, compared to the USA?

      First there are more people in the USA and therefore more phone numbers and phones in general. We, Americans, still have the largest economy in the world and most of the largest corporations which, primarily provide toll free phone numbers for there customers.

        For alternative numbers to the iniquitous 0845 deal, go to a website called saynoto0870.com and you get all sorts of free stuff.

          Thanks. I get what you mean. There are however many large organizations in Britain who are unwilling to offer a toll free service. Instead you have to call an 0845 number, which costs twice as much as a normal call!
