The Slip'N Slide is a toy manufactured by Wham-O, first introduced in 1961 after being invented by Robert Carrier. The toy is a long sheet of thin plastic, flanked lengthwise on one side by a heat-sealed tubular fold. The tube can be connected to any ordinary garden hose.

SLIP 'N SLIDE
The Slip 'n Slide was invented by Wham-O, one of the preeminent American toy companies, in 1961. Simply a rubber sheet that attaches to your garden hose and transforms into a lubricated sliding surface, it was a backyard fixture for decades until safety studies determined that it was responsible for a host of injuries—in adults. Kids are relatively safe on the Slip 'n Slide, but the increased weight of grown-ups makes them susceptible to permanent spinal cord injuries from sliding. Wham-O sent a recall notice for the Slip 'n Slide in 1993, recommending that adults and teens do not use it.

Once you realize how seriously Chanel takes their watchmaking you can't help but appreciate the craftsmanship and its cultural status explains Parchie founder and ex-Hodinkee alumnus Cara Barrett. "There are very few link watches that you constantly link see on people's wrists and the J12 is one of them along with the Cartier Tank and the Rolex Submariner which are both excellent link companies to keep."
