My father bred Fox terriers for many years & always maintained that there could be more than one sire to a litter of pups.I think his opinions were formed by the physical appearances of the puppies rather than any scientific evidence.

Back in .,79 we picked up two dogs from the Humane Society, Brother and sister who had no resemblance to each other, One was part Norwegian Elkhound and German Sheppard and sister was all black and 10 inches shorter. Vet told us that they probably had different fathers.

MULTIPLE EGGS AND IN HEAT , AND MORE THAN ONE MALE CAN MATE THE FEMALE DURING THEIR HOT PERIOD, HAVE YOU SEEN PUPS THAT LOOK TOTATLY DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER. wE HAD A DOBERMAN,,FEMALE , WAS IN HEAT IN FENCED IN YARD. CAUGHT NEIGHBORS DOG AFTER THE DEED, GERMAN SHEPPARD, THEN THAT EVENING A STRAY WAS IN THE YARD, AND NO DOUBT A BIG BROWN AND WHITE hOUND DOG. pUPS BORN 10 TO BE EXACT
3 WHITE AND BLACK AND BROWN PUPS LONG EARS..THE OTHER 7 WERE GREY, LONGER HAIR WITH DOBERMAN NOSES. SO i BELIEVE THEY CAN BE IMPREGNATED WITH MORE THEN ONE DOG.

Yes, when my German Shepard had puppies there were four sets of twins each set had a boy and a girl twin. We could match up the fathers by looking at the male dogs in the neighborhood.
