The UK police / Fire Service frquencies along with many other countries have now changed to digital communications systems. The new UK system is known as TETRA. The digital signals are electronicly cyphered & decyphered for security & cannot now be listened to on an FM scanner. However, the system in the USA may still be the older anolouge UHF system.
