Good question. Try your USB stick on another PC - if it works it is likly that your own PC setting or your USB socket may be at fault. Plug in the stick & click on to "computer" or "my computer". Your external drive (USB stick) should be listed when plugged in. If the stick does not work on a third party PC it is sure to be a faulty USB stick.
