I lost a small claims court case recently, can i appeal against judges decision

I completed a loft conversion for a customer last year who upon completion refused to release the last payment tome. So I took the customer to court, and though I told the complete truth the judge awarded against me leaving me nearly £5000 short. Can I appeal against the judges decision, and if so, what are the likely costs.
