    Under normal circumstances it is 147

    Correct answer is 155. if your opponent foul strokes and leaves you snookered, you now have a free ball, so you pot a colour, that is 1, then you pot the black, that is another 7 that is 8 so far, then you go on to make the 147, 8+147=155. OK
