    Why can"t stone built houses have cavity wall insulation

    Because the walls would collapse if they were hollow. Stone is an excellent insulator all by itself, cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
    Because usually they are solid walls, no cavity
    i'm quite certain that it's because they literally don't have a cavity! i e,just a single layer.
