      I think 4-5 inches. Don't want it so high that small critters can go under it (like cats).

        In the Uk you cant go any higher than 6f but as 6dogs said leave a gap for small animals do get in and to get out

          To make mowing the lawn easier 6" 150mm clearence should suffice, the maximun total height to top of fence is normaly 6` 1800mm.
