All business owners in the United States are to pay minimum wage to all employees at the very least. It is a federal law that no one should be paid less than minimum wage.
The only business owner that probably tries to get away with not paying minimum wage is someone who is paying a person "under the table", claiming they aren't really working for the business.

Thank you. I have read that Alabama follows the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act and that act seems to exempt business making less than $500,000 a year. This is what confused me as it does not seem possible that it would not cover every employer.
