how can i find out if my external hard drive its a seagate..has a ntfs formatted partition and..how do i get it ntfs formatted partition if i don't??

according to a pop-up window there saying its not connected and needs to be ntfs formatted partitioned..so how do i do it?

It should say on the box it came in who the manufacturer is, or, it should be on the device itself. If you go to My Computer, and right click on the listed hard drive and click on Format, it should tell you the type of partition, and can reformat it from there if you want to.

I'm so glad you're around for the tech questions my brain finds too boring to research. I was going to tell him to look at the instructions but figure that wasn't enough of an answer.

I was tempted to tell him the same thing, since you can really screw up your computer, and it sounds like he should be reading the instructions! :)
