When a person can no longer take care of their basic needs such as cooking, bathing, dressing themselves, brushing their hair and teeth or going to the bathroom. When a person can't walk very well and refuses to use a walker or wheelchair. When a person refuses to have someone come to their home to help them with chores. When a person can't remember to take medication on a regular basis.
Any of these instances should be considered towards putting a person into a nursing home so that they are taken care of properly.
