I use g-mail and outlook express.
In outlook express, there is a button with a paperclip that says "attach", or use "Insert" at the top then "attach a file". After you click use the "look in" button to browse for the folder its in, then click on the file and the attach button on the bottom.
Gmail: Under the subject there is a paperclip, it reads attach a file click on that then it's pretty much the same as the others - look for the folder and click open or save and then just send your letter.
You can usually tell if the file is there by looking underneath the subject line, it should have the name of your file.
