    1997 40hp mercury, starts and idols, when throteled, it stolls

    I currently have a 1997 40hp 2 stroke mercury, it will start and idol but when i hanmer the throtel it makes a crackling sound and stolls. It ran perfectly last year when i parcked it.

      Could be water in the gas or the fuel injectors are clogged or something to do with the fuel pump or filter. Try changing the fuel and the filter first. See if that helps.

        Change the fuel filter then put an inline filter on it to. The inline filter will help the internal filter cleaner a lot longer
