It's not really, HR runs interference for management. Weeds out the prospective misfits by verifying resume's, check credit issues, and criminal checks. Most company's today will give you a questionnaire to fill out:
1. To see if can write.
2. How literate are you?
3. Some common sense questions.
4. A few questions pertaining to the position applied for.
