Cleaning the Okra

Take a look at your okra. If you notice that the okra is black or brown at the top of the stem, cut 1/4-inch pieces off the top of the okra.

Put the okra into salty water. The water can be room temperature or cold.

Swish the okra around in water, for about 30 seconds before letting it sit for five minutes.

Rinse the okra thoroughly.

Remove the okra from the water. Place it in a colander for additional rinsing, if needed.
