      For what, there is a place for both. sech40 is used mainly indoors for plumbing, sech 80 outside for drain pipe.

        Schedule 40 pipe is thin walled, pipe and is used for low pressure, water, air, ect. the ouside dia. is the same as its counter part in the use of their connection fittings. but their applications can differ.
