    4. I have an Epson V500 photo scanner. One of the instructins state that if I start a scan from the Adobe Photoshop Elements program my images open in the prograam window. Question, how do I I start scanning from the "Adobe Photoshop Elements". I see no icon or other instructions to do that.

      You need to start the program then start the scan from the PROGRAM and not from the scanner itself.
