Gravity is a byproduct of mass. mass = a compression of matter's paths(both inside and between the atoms)so that a measurable amount of matter fits in a measurable amount of space
increased mass leads to an increased compression so that more matter fits into the same space, with the result that to move through that mass, necessarally takes more energy (or more time?).this is due to the mass warping the space (by the abovementioned compression) it travels through
if not enough energy to move through and hence past then it must, by default, join. thus are gravity and equilibrium maintained
