    what can gerbils eat?

    my gerbil has a sore eye and she has a reddish goo in it. we think she is lacking something in her diet. she only eats normal rodent food and sometimes strawberries and grapes(not often) i also spray aresols in my room e.g deodrant hairspray. that also could be the problem,

      Check out this website http://gerbilcare.org/gerbilfood.php By the way - you don't have any plastic toys or other items in the tank, do you? Gerbils should only have wooden toys because they like to gnaw on them. They may swallow plastic items which can make them sick.

        thank you very much, yes i give her toilet roll tubes and her tunnel is plastic and she chews it.
