    should a diesel engine be idled down prior to shutdown and if so for how long?

    I let my engine idle for a little while. Depends on if I pulled a trailer, or just ran up town. The turbo will cook the oil that's in it if you don't.
    if you have been working the engine hard its recomended to cool down the engine by idleing down for a few minutes before shutdown
