I guess it matters how you measure 'Best' but Mrs Queen when she goes up there stays at Balmoral. I would drop her a line and ask if she takes guests. She always appears to be a very nice woman so you just might be welcomed. Failing that, ask her for a recommendation. Always start at the top.

Another way, if you are a bit shy, is to use 'AirB&B' which links up people with spare rooms with those looking to stay a night or two without paying hotel prices. Some 'homes' are fabulous.
