....we took a cruise to the Bahamas during the Christmas holidays several years ago, had a great time.

Early December to early April. June 1-December 1 is hurricane season. It can get cold in the winter; similar to Miami. if it's in the 40's in Miami, chances are it's about as cold in the Bahamas. Early April-mid October, it tends to be hot and humid.
