    From yahoo answers: Peanuts (or any kind of nut) are actually good for you. Yes, it's true that they are high in fat, but they are high in monounsaturated fat, which your body needs to metabolize certain vitamins like Vitamin E. Monounsaturated fat also helps raise your "good" cholesterol while at the same time lowering your "bad" cholesterol. So peanuts are a great part of a diet, but be warned: Too much of anything is bad for you and bad for your diet efforts, so be sure not to eat too many peanuts.
    As Colleen said, everything in moderation.
    They are not as fattening as regular peanuts. Regular peanuts have a higher oil content. And this makes them more fattening, than the dry roasted type.
