I have a uncle that was killed in WW11,and to beat all he was a medic,he did'nt even have a gun with him as he went onto the battlefield to tend a wounded comrade,thats when his earthly life ended but he is in his family's heart forever.Also had a brother in Nam in 1968,he came back alive but that place messed with him so bad that he drank himself too his grave...RIP bro i love you and miss you very much.

I have had none in my family although both brothers served, myself and my dad never served because of health problems.
But have close friends and distance friends that lost their lives serving this country and I want to just say how much I appreciate the ones that serve.

I don't know anyone that has died serving their country. But my heart goes out to all those that have lost their lives and to their families. My Husband retired from the Navy after 20 years. I was in the Army for 3 years. We love our Military.

I think it's important to thank our vets for serving when we see them, it's just a respectful thing to do. We all do owe them a debt of gratitude. My Step Dad, and my oldest brother served. My Dad was highly decorated, served in Korea and Vietnam. He was very exposed to agent orange and died of cancer in the early 80's.

I think to give even a few years of your life to serve your country is a courageous thing to do, especially if you put your life on the line. Thank you to all of you vets out there...

I think young people today don't take Memorial Day to serious. It you were born after 1960 you may never even heard of the draft when all males were expected to serve.

I believe this installed a certain amount of pride in serving and in the country, that is missing now.
