Diarrhea, in advanced stages, is known to cause many, many deaths. This is due to the body losing essential fluids, along with many of the necessary minerals/ions needed to maintain life processes. Oddly enough, buttermilk - which has fewer calories than the 'butter' name would imply (READ the % of butterfat on the content labels), works well. It calms an upset, or acidic, stomach, at the same time replaces necessary fluid.
