Everything is a razors edge. Yes, you should love yourself and place yourself on the same platform as you place your lover or best friend. No one is more important than you besides God. But loving yourself over all others and feeling more important than anyone else, is not a good way to go. Even pride in yourself is a razors edge. Good pride keeps your self confidence strong and helps you to love who you are. But bad pride can make you selfish and that edge of the razor can slice your world apart.

In order to value yourself, you must love yourself. If you value yourself, you will never allow another person to dominate and enslave you. That is a good thing.
If the love of yourself becomes greater than your love for another human being, that is being self-centered and you will not value another human. That is not a good thing.

Like all of the above answers say the thing is not to love yourself to much, save some for other people. When I was in my twenties I used to work out five or six times a week and stared at myself in the mirror all the time, I was buff, I was also vain.
As you get older hopefully you get wiser and learn to love yourself, but not to be in love with yourself.
