yea as Colleen said this cat could have flees or a skin condition get it checked out at the vet first before you put any flee stuff on as this could make it worse good luck melanie

sorry about that Colleen didnt mean to do that will thumbs up again having problems with my lapdog!
I've also seen my cats chew on their fur when grooming. Perhaps just scratching an itch!

I think the biting on the fur is a bit like detangle then the tongue is used like a comb (dont qoute me on this)though I am pretty sure this might be correct. though I do like the idea of a Itch mel
Detangler is a great thought Mel, accept all my cats are shorthaired not longhaired and aren't apt to be mats. I once thought someone told me it was to distribute the oil on the hair by chewing and spitting. Sounds yucky!
Yes your right i didnt mention that on long haired cats they do detangle and I forgot to mention about short haired cats I do also have a few shorthaired cats! and you right they do distribute oil on their fur oops sorry mel
