    Does anyone know how a psychiatrist diagnoses "emotionally unstable personality disorder"

    I have been recently told i have this but I do not meet the criteria.

    Typically "cutting" or some other type of self abuse is involved. Depression, and unable to maintain a stable lifestyle. It is difficult to treat PD's because they do not always want to be treated.

    exactly I have never cut self abused myself.have a stable lifestyle been married 28 years good long standing friends.Wish I knew how he came to his conclusion.He will not explain.

    Most psychiatrists only do medication management. Get a second opinion from a pyschologist.
