          What are Karma points?

          As you contribute to the community your profile accumulates Karma points. These points distinguish you as a respected member and one which opinion is highly regarded by the community. Gaining Karma points also opens up doors to some cool features in akaQA which are constantly added.

            I believe the next project they may be working on is badges to show rank. I think they're still working on a list of features that will be fun for the senior users. This has all been sort of shelved right now as they continue to bring back features we had on the other forum.
