      It depends on the brand computer you have but you would need an adapter like this one. http://stores.nextag.com/store/4798045/product/894184249/12V-Car-Cigarette-Lighter Any computer shop will have what you need. Try radio shack too. They may have a universal one.

        Yes, I use a 12 volt adapter with no problem for my mac. Mine is the 400 model and it works great. No problems at all.
