Some of my family members were in the carpet business years ago. The only product that's guaranteed to remove urine stains is made by Bridgepoint, it's called urine stain remover. It works guaranteed.
Enzymes are live cultured bacteria designed to eat urine or fecal matter, they become active when added to warm water, and will only work and establish a colony while the area is wet, you will have to soak it to get to the padding underneath. That will leave a brown stain once it drys.
If you have a lot of them it's better to just call a professional, you can get a few quotes first, just go with the company that guarantees their work. White vinegar will get rid of the brown stains sometimes, because it's acidic nature, but won't get rid of the smell, it neutralizes the ammonia in the urine which is alkaline.
If you just go with white vinegar it may not take out the stain, and it you will wind up having to call a professional anyway, hope this helps, good luck. Get a crate for your dog... p.s. I was IICRC certified to clean carpet years ago.

Hi there.
The best to do right when the stain is fresh and wet is to soak it up with an absorbing towel. However, a stain will remain even though it will be much smaller after soaking most of the urine with a towel. The best available products to completely remove urine stains are stain removing products that contain live bacteria (not dangerous to humans) and active enzymes. There are formulas that are made for fresh wet stains, and also for dry stains.
Look for those products in stores near your home and especially in pet stores!
Good luck.
