As the Bible states... we should know false teachers and prophets by theirs fruits. Spirit recognize spirit. When in doubt, check it out!!!

if what they claim to come to pass doesn't come to pass. then they are a false prophet.

If one reads their bible regularly and often then you know if it does not line up with the word of God then that prophet would be false in my opinion.
