    It was part of New South Wales after colonisation by the British in 1788. It was later divided and named Victoria after Queen Victoria and Melbourne, named in honour of Lord Melbourne was named as the capital city of Victoria. Does that help with your homework in the country you are ashamed to admit you live in?
