    my honda gs160 5hp engine has no spark. Could it be the ign; coil?

      simple test pull out the spark plug reattach coil wire to plug and ground out end of plug to engine block head. then pull start watching plug for spark, try several times if no spark change wire first (much cheaper than coil)if still no spark it could be your coil or check the wireing on the cut out switch

        Older small engines used a magnet set into the flywheel to produce the spark but also used points to time it more precisely. If your
        Honda engine has a coil it needs something to trigger the coil - check for an "igniter"
