I began taking birth control pills last May. My first prescription lasted three months, and was very effective. I took a month off because I was unable to renew my prescription, and then began again in September for another five months until the pharmacy messed up my order and I took another month off. Now I am back on the pill for the past two months; however I have been bleeding inbetween my regular periods. This was not an issue when I was taking the pill last year. Why is this happening?

It is quite common to have "spotting" in the first 3 months of starting a contraceptive pill, you should continue taking it. Any missed or late pills can also cause irregular bleeding. Chlamydia or other sexually transmitted infections can also cause bleeding between periods. You need to go to your local contraceptive and sexual health service and have a full screen and review of your contraception.
