        A lady I knew had a large patch of bamboo in her garden. She put an ad in the local paper- 'Strict lady gives free canes to gentlemen'. Try it.

          With a great deal of difficulty.

          You have to remove every last root or else it will regrow.

                    Having lived in Hawaii, I understand your problem - it grows like a pest. I don't know the best answer, but I suggest contacting the University of Hawaii Department of Botany - they've had to clear it many times I'm sure. Good luck!
