John, the Apostle. Was on the isle called patmos. He had what we call a vision. The type of vision that he had occurred while he was exiled and was in what most people refer to as "trance" state.

According to the wording, there is someone he is speaking to in Chapter 1. Whomever he is speaking with absolutely believes him as it appears that he throws in a few words, himself.

you should know, in those days, there was a profession of writing out the things a person says. They were called "scribes". We refer to them, now, as journalists.
