MU metal is an alloy that was developed to contain electromagnetic energy. It is much more electro-magnetic restrictive than iron and is used in microwave ovens to prevent RF leakage and in many appliances and instruments to prevent magnetic interference. Mu metal is discussed extensively in Wikipedia.
