    I believe the inquisition was during the time of the middle ages, when the church (specific not remembered), used Christianity to root out non-believers and people who were seen as a threat to it. Throughout history the differing views and beliefs of people have been the cause of some very violent times. In having said this, I take no side with anyone's belief, but attempt to offer a look at the bigger picture that history has rendered available for examination. Perhaps someone else could be more specific in detail, or correct anything I might have unintentionally presented incorrectly.
    The Inquisition was a Roman Catholic tribunal for discovery and punishment of heresy, which was marked by the severity of questioning and punishment and lack of rights afforded to the accused.
