Probably because the emails were meant for Americans only and (in the small print) it says "available to residents of the US only. The laws and regulations only apply to the US - but don't worry because you are probably dodging a bullet. None of these offers (or anything else "free") is ever free. You will have to sign up for something, or it will cost you something eventually.
