You can download music to your laptop and move the songs to your Ipod Nano using a USB cable.

thank you for answering but the problem is the laptop is not recognizing the nano as a device to download to...like my other computer did....just picked the music i had downloaded, picked the nano to copy it to and it worked...why can't i get the laptop to recognize the plugged in (USB cable is being used) nano? driving me crazy...LOL
