      You should not have to take any medicines or drugs, no barium or calcium vcarbonate, or similar. MRI takes X-ray slices of some part of the body so that a doctor can generate a 3-D picture of a part of your body to study a problem, like a strain, a broken bone, or a muscke pull or tear, etc.
