Check with the state the corporation (or whatever the entity is filed as) is based or incorporated in. Also, Federal websites may help, since EIN is usually noted as a "FEIN," or a FEDERAL tax ID number. Anyone doing business (except possibly individuals) should have one in order to conduct business/pay taxes, etc., and it should be trackable and verifiable.
Start with the state government websites (you think) they are registered in, and they should be able to guide you from there. Hope that helps.
